JOURNALS

Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene publishes original, peer-reviewed articles, and reviews across a broad range of topics including: clinical tropical medicine and case reports; infectious diseases; parasitology and entomology; microbiology and virology; epidemiology; chemotherapy; immunology and public updates on progress with major global partnership programmes. We also publish peer-reviewed supplements from leading groups of experts. These supplements provide an opportunity for an in-depth review of available knowledge within a particular field and we are particulary suited to the detailed review of field trials of new vaccines and therapies or the progress of major disease control programmes.

Trends in Parasitology aims to provide a point of access for communication between workers in all disciplines, both in the field and laboratory. Trends in Parasitology reflects the truly global significance of medical and veterinary parasites, and as a result the journal has more than 30,000 readers in 128 countries. To maintain its cosmopolitan coverage, Trends in Parasitology not only commissions articles of interest to the specialist but ensures they are written in a form accessible to readers in other fields. Its format and broad scope have made it an essential journal for parasitologists worldwide.

Acta Tropica is an international journal that covers biomedical and health sciences with particular emphasis on topics relevant to human and animal health in the tropics and the subtropics. Its scope includes the biology of parasites and vectors, welcoming contributions concerning either basic or applied research in disciplines such as taxonomy, morphology, biochemistry, physiology and immunology; the development of tools for diagnosis and disease control; clinical and community medicine; and the epidemiology of communicable disease and health systems.

The Lancet Infectious Diseases was launched in August, 2001, and is a lively monthly journal of review, opinion, and news covering international issues relevant to clinical infectious diseases specialists worldwide. The journal's impact factor of 12.06 is the highest of all infectious diseases journals (ISI Journal Citation Reports, 2007).

Travel Medicine and Infectious Disease publishes original papers and invited reviews covering all aspects of travel medicine and infectious disease. These include the epidemiology and surveillance of travel-related infectious disease, vaccine-preventable disease, illness in returning travellers, aviation medicine including psychological aspects, environmental hazards of travel, practical clinical issues for travellers, tropical medicine and tropical skin disease and general aspects of travel medicine and infectious disease. The journal brings together knowledge from different specialties involved in the research and clinical practice of travel medicine and infectious disease.

International Journal for Parasitology publishes the results of original research in all aspects of basic and applied parasitology, including parasites and host-parasite relationships of intrinsic biological interest to those of social and economic importance in human and veterinary medicine and agriculture. Original research includes the development of novel and innovative concepts and ideas, as well as experimental and observational science that raises new hypotheses. The Journal also publishes thematic Issues incorporating papers on a topical theme and commissions papers with emphasis on shorter, focussed reviews of topical issues and strategically important subjects. The Journal encourages critical comment and debate on matters of current controversy in parasitology via "Current Opinions".

Molecular and Biochemical Parasitology provides a medium for rapid publication of investigations of the molecular biology and biochemistry of parasitic protozoa and helminths, and their interactions with both the definitive and intermediate host. The main subject areas covered are: (1.) the chemical structure, biosynthesis, degradation, properties and function of DNA, RNA, proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and small molecular-weight substances, (2.) intermediary metabolism and bioenergetics, (3.) molecular and biochemical studies on the mode of action of antiparasitic drugs, (4.) molecular and biochemical aspects of membrane structure and function, (5.) molecular and biochemical aspects of host parasite relationships including analysis of parasitic escape mechanisms, (6.) characterisation of parasite antigens and of parasite and host cell surface receptors, (7.) analysis of gene structure, function and expression, and (8.) mechanism of genetic recombination.

Experimental Parasitology emphasizes modern approaches to parasitology, including molecular biology and immunology. The journal features original research papers on the physiological, metabolic, immunologic, biochemical, nutritional, and chemotherapeutic aspects of parasites and host-parasite relationships.

Parasitology International provides a medium for rapid, carefully reviewed publications in the field of human and animal parasitology. Original papers, rapid communications, and original case reports from all geographical areas and covering all parasitological disciplines, including structure, immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and systematics, may be submitted. Reviews on recent developments are invited regularly, but suggestions in this respect are welcome. Letters to the Editor commenting on any aspect of the Journal are also welcome.

Veterinary Parasitology is concerned with those aspects of helminthology, protozoology and entomology which are of interest to animal health investigators, veterinary practitioners and others with a special interest in parasitology. Papers of the highest quality dealing with all aspects of disease prevention, pathology, treatment, epidemiology, and control of parasites in all domesticated animals fall within the scope of the journal.
